Cape Town (South Africa), Port Louis (Mauritius) - 21st November 2022
The African Hydrogen Partnership (AHP) is delighted to welcome WKN Windcurrent as an AHP member
WKN Windcurrent has been developing Wind energy projects in South Africa since 2011. WKN Windcurrent’s ultimate parent company is PNE AG which is a German Prime Standard company and as such is the first German owned/linked company to join AHP. The German Prime Standard represents the highest transparency standard on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. PNE Group is a German wind power pioneer operating on an international level, and it is one of the most experienced project developers of onshore and offshore wind farms. The group has developed into a provider of clean energy solutions and offers photovoltaics, electricity storage, service products and the supply of clean electricity. PNE is also focussing on the development of power-to-X solutions.
Mike Mangnall, WKN Windcurrent Managing Director stated,
“WKN Windcurrent is very pleased to have joined the AHP and we look forward to a collaborative partnership in the future. As part of the PNE Group, a leading global renewable energy developer, we believe that the large-scale production of hydrogen derived from wind and solar PV is essential to achieving global decarbonisation targets. South Africa is very well-positioned to play a significant role in the rapidly emerging Green Hydrogen industry and we envisage WKN Windcurrent, in collaboration with local and international partners, being an integral role player as the market continues to develop.”
Dr Innocent Uwuijaren, AHP Director and Chairman, stated,
“We are delighted that WKN Windcurrent has joined the AHP. We look forward to working with Mike Mangnall and his team in Cape Town, South Africa as they develop the wind and photovoltaic resources that Green Hydrogen projects depend on. We are pleased that a successful South African company and a major German corporation like PNE Group see the potential for real world projects in Africa. We are sure that the relationship between WKN Windcurrent and AHP will be mutually beneficial.”
