Africa Practice joins the AHP
Nairobi (Kenya), Port Louis (Mauritius) - 14th October 2022
The African Hydrogen Partnership (AHP) is delighted to welcome Africa Practice as its first African member organisation specialising in political advisory services focusing on energy, renewables and infrastructure.
Africa Practice (AP) is a pan-African strategic advisory firm, operating at the nexus of industry and government. AP supplies insights and advocacy solutions to corporations, investors, governments and foundations in Africa, enabling them to see more clearly, engage with confidence and unlock value to drive sustainable and equitable development. Over the past 19 years AP has advised some of the largest institutions and investors in Africa and delivered assignments in over 45 countries, building deep sector knowledge.
Richard Kiplagat, Group Director and East Africa MD of Africa Practice, said:
“Africa Practice is delighted to join AHP. Green hydrogen has the potential to transform the continent’s energy sector. It provides an opportunity for Africa to sustainably meet its energy demands while offering a pathway to turning the continent into a major global provider of clean energy. The private sector is key in mobilising green investments in Africa to complement the ongoing government efforts in creating enabling environments through policy and regulations. We are excited to be contributing to accelerated development of green hydrogen in Africa in partnership with AHP."
Dr Innocent Uwuijaren, AHP Director and Chairman, stated,
“We are so pleased that Africa Practice has joined the AHP. We are excited to work with Marcus Courage and Richard Kiplagat and their colleagues at Africa Practice who have a unique blend of qualification and experience across Africa. They will bring a deep understanding of business, government and the environment to many of the critical issues that the AHP and its members will face as they seek to promote green hydrogen and its derivatives and to develop green hydrogen projects in Africa.”
Siegfried Huegemann, AHP Secretary General, said,
“The development of green hydrogen projects in Africa requires the collaboration of the industry, finance, academia, governments and the public administration. Political consensus and agreements need to be achieved, the right rules and regulations must be implemented, new policies are required, administrative processes have to be made more efficient, and activities of organisations and stakeholders need to be coordinated and harmonised on a national and international level. These complex tasks require the right capabilities and political expertise. Africa Practice has the skills and a proven track record of successfully coordinating activities between the private and public sector across different markets on the African continent, which will be most valuable for expediting the development of green hydrogen projects in Africa. I am delighted that Africa Practice has joined the AHP and look forward to fruitful and productive collaboration."
