Most Influential 2016: Jack Brouwer

Lauren Williams reported, "(...) Role: Associate director of the National Fuel Cell Research Center and associate professor at UC Irvine. (...) Why he is an influencer: Brouwer has spent years developing a type of battery that can store natural energy, such as solar power, and distribute it when it’s needed. This year, that project went online, turning excess solar energy into hydrogen that’s helping drive UCI’s on-campus power plant. In essence, Brouwer and his team made the first hydrogen battery in the United States. The technology could be instrumental in weaning people off fossil fuels. The project is already helping heat classrooms and dorms on campus. (...)"
